Experience

Founded in 1994 by Melvin Sikes, Sikes Composites has a long history in the fiberglass industry.  For more than 30 years, Melvin Sikes has worked with and/or owned companies within the fiberglass composites manufacturing industry.  Prior starting SCC, Melvin worked and co-owned Mortar Creek Plastics, Inc.  For many years, Mortar Creek produced many of the fiberglass components for the familiar brown UPS trucks.  For more than 20 years, Melvin worked in the areas of production management and quality assurance at Mortar Creek Plastics prior to starting SCC when Mortar Creek Plastics was ultimately purchased by Union City Body Company.

In addition to the 30 years experience the founder and president of SCC has in the field of composites manufacturing, SCC boasts an experienced production staff as well.  The current operations manager has more than 15 years experience in the industry and each production supervisor has a minimum of 10 years experience in the industry.  SCC knows how valuable skilled laminators and technicians are in this industry, and we work hard to attract and retain a qualified labor force.
